The Key to Enjoying Whatever This Holiday Season Brings

How to Make the Holidays Less Stressful for the Whole Family

(Family Features) Between changes in routine and visiting family (or having them visit you), the holidays can be emotionally overwhelming for children and adults alike, even in “normal times.” Add in inclement weather, the desire for a perfect holiday and parents still working, and you have a perfect cocktail for emotional meltdowns.

“The key to enjoying whatever this holiday season brings is to acknowledge the range of emotions the entire family may be feeling and hold space for those feelings,” said Ariel Acosta from KinderCare’s Inclusion Services team. “By working on a few key things now before the heightened expectations and busyness set in, families can build a toolbox of skills that will help make the season less stressful for everyone.”

Consider these tips to help families prepare for a less stressful holiday season.

Find ways to destress as a family – Throw on some music and have a dance party. Incorporate some simple yoga moves or stretches into your day to create mindful moments. Help your children create a list of calm-down techniques to choose from when they start to become overwhelmed or as a way to reset after an outburst, such as taking a deep breath.

Set expectations for greetings – Talk with your children about your family’s expectations around greetings and help them think of and practice different ways to say hello, such as a hug, handshake, high-five, wave or verbal greeting. Giving your children options ahead of time allows them to choose the greeting that feels most comfortable in the moment. To lessen the pressure, make sure family members and friends understand what you and your children are comfortable with. For example, “It looks like Zazil doesn’t want a hug right now, Auntie Mei. Perhaps a high-five would be better.”

Give your children (and yourself) grace – Talk with your children about the range of emotions you feel throughout the day. This can help them learn emotional literacy and flexible thinking. It also normalizes feelings. When a big feeling does happen, remember to connect before you correct by labeling and validating your child’s emotions: “I can see that you’re really sad we have to leave the party. Leaving makes me feel sad, too. What would help you feel better?”

If your child is engaged in unsafe behaviors, like hitting, wait until after everyone is calm before talking about what could be done differently next time.

“How you handle your mistakes can be a powerful example for your children,” Acosta said. “Once you’re calm, explain what happened to your children. Start by naming your emotion, apologize if you didn’t handle your feelings well and let your children know what you plan to do differently next time. ‘I was really mad you two were arguing and I yelled. I shouldn’t have done that. Next time, I’m going to try to remember to take some deep breaths to help me speak more kindly.’”

Secret Santa in the Workplace: 10 Reasons to Choose a Gift Basket This Christmas

free shipping gift baskets

Secret Santa gift exchange at Holiday Christmas Parties is a time-tested staple of office life.

For most, the chance to buy gifts for coworkers and receive a gift in return is a welcome respite from day-to-day office life. For others, the secret Santa gift exchange is an unwelcome intrusion, one fraught with opportunities for faux pas and inappropriate presents.

No matter how you feel about the annual secret Santa gift exchange, there are many reasons to choose a gift basket this season. Here are 10 reasons to select affordable coworker gift baskets for your annual giving exchange.

1. Gift baskets come in various price points - From the elaborate display to impress the boss to an affordable basket for the office newcomer, you can find a present that is right for everyone.

2. You do not have to leave the office or brave the mall to buy gift baskets. You can buy affordable colleague gift baskets online - no need to step out of the office or even leave your cubicle.

3. Gift baskets are affordable. If you are looking for an inexpensive gift for a coworker, client, or coworker, you cannot go wrong with a gift basket. These gifts can be as simple or elaborate as you like - the only limit is your holiday budget and imagination.

4. You can ship your gift basket to almost anyone. If your company has offices all over the place, you can treat your employees to stunning gift baskets with the click of a mouse. No need for expensive shipping or costly travel - just point, click, and ship.

5. Gift baskets are customizable. You can customize your gift basket for each colleague you are buying for, creating just the right present for everyone on your holiday shopping list.

6. Gift baskets are the perfect last-minute present. Nothing is worse than getting a gift from a coworker and having nothing to give in return. If that happens, all you have to do is go online and buy a last-minute gift basket, one that can be delivered to the office the very next day.

7. Gift baskets are perfect for your clients. When the holiday season rolls around, you will want to thank the clients who pay the bills and keep your firm in business. Gift baskets are perfect for client giving - and your chosen recipients will think of you every time they pull a new item from the basket.

8. Shop for colleague gift baskets at Adorable Gifts Baskets and avoid the dreaded trip to the mall. The shopping mall may be convenient, but it is not always pleasant during the holidays. Spend your time hanging out with your family than fighting for a parking place and keep your car in the garage.

9. Gift baskets are affordable. Buying gifts for all your coworkers can add up fast, but gift baskets are among the most affordable options. If you are looking for a present that will not break the bank, you cannot go wrong with a coworker gift basket.

10. You can avoid those gift-giving faux pas. Gift-giving at the office can be fraught with peril, and giving the wrong gift or presenting an inappropriate one could come back to haunt you. Unlike that ill-conceived sweater choice or that cheap bottle of wine, gift baskets are always appropriate and always welcome.

If you are looking for a holiday gift that will make you look great without draining your Christmas club account, there are plenty of reasons to choose a coworker gift basket this year. Gift baskets are always the right size, they are filled with delicious, delectable, and beautiful treats, and they are sure to please every single colleague and coworker on your holiday shopping list.

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas: How to Have a Happy Holiday in an Age of Uncertainty

Christmas Gift Delivery

To say that the current age is one of uncertainty would be a huge understatement.

With a global pandemic still raging and supply chain issues keeping ships in the ports and trucks off the road, no one really knows how the upcoming holiday season will play out.

With the current issues besetting the world, it is as if the fictitious Grinch has come to life and come early. If you want to have a happy holiday, you may need to make a few adjustments, but if you act fast, you can still have a wonderful time with the people you love the most. Here are some tips for saving Christmas in an age of uncertainty.

Start Shopping Early

Shopping early for the holidays has always been an intelligent practice, but it is essential this year. With supply chains breaking down and millions of products still stuck on ships, you need to act fast if you want those presents to be waiting under the tree on Christmas morning.

If you have not already done so, now is the time to gather the wish lists of your kids, relatives, and anyone else you will be shopping for. If the kids ask why you need their lists so early, just tell them that Santa and his elves are working overtime and need some extra time - given the last couple of years, they are sure to understand.

Monitor Shipping Dates

If you are heading online to fill those Christmas wish lists, you will want to monitor shipping dates and check the shipping status frequently. Just because an item was in stock when you ordered is no guarantee that it will reach you in time for the big holiday, so double-check so you will not be disappointed.

Watch Out for Porch Pirates

You will also want to store those Christmas gifts securely once they arrive, so know when they will be coming and watch out for the delivery folks. Porch pirates are likely to be especially active this holiday season, so grab those boxes as soon as they show up.

If you are not lucky enough to be working from home, you can ask a neighbor to keep an eye out and store your boxes until you get home. You can return the favor by house sitting when they go away on vacation or by delivering a big batch of fresh-baked Christmas cookies.

Give Gift Cards and Monetary Gifts

Many products may be hard to come by this holiday season, especially electronics always at the top of those Christmas wish lists. If those must-have holiday gifts are still sitting at the dock when Christmas morning arrives, you can always substitute gift cards or, in a pinch, cold hard cash.

The store shelves may be emptying fast, but the banks are still fully stocked. If you want to remove the uncertainty from holiday giving, you cannot go wrong with monetary gifts or cash equivalents like gift cards.

Enjoy a Zoom Holiday with Far-Flung Relatives

You probably got pretty good at Zoom meetings during the pandemic, so why not put those online meeting skills to work in a fun way? If your relatives are all over the country and travel is still uncertain, a Zoom holiday morning could be the next best thinning to being there.

Once everyone is gathered in their virtual living rooms, they can watch the kids open their presents in their respective homes. Everyone can enjoy a wonderful Christmas morning, and you can all sign off with some unforgettable holiday memories.

Put Together a Family Holiday Cookbook

Food is a massive part of the holiday celebration, but this year, many family members may not make it to Christmas dinner. If your holiday table will be a bit smaller this year, why not put together a homemade cookbook and send it out in time for the big feast?

Just ask every member of your holiday clan to submit their favorite recipe, type them up, add some photographs and print it all out. You can bind the cookbook yourself using supplies you buy online or outsource that work to create a truly professional result. Either way, you will have made a one-of-a-kind gift the whole family is sure to love.

Even in an age of uncertainty, one thing is indisputably true - this will be a holiday season like no other. The uncertainties of the moment are almost sure to throw a monkey wrench into your holiday planning, but you do not have to let the supply chain Grinch or the fear of a global pandemic ruin your celebration. The tips listed above can help you not only survive the uncertainty but turn it to your benefit.

Supply chain problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic threaten to disrupt the ordinary buying people usually do for the holiday season. In addition, changes being made to the U.S. Postal Service are expected to cause delays in the delivery of packages for the holidays. Combined, these looming problems should inspire consumers to change their habits for holiday buying and shipping.

Start Your Holiday Buying Early

Use the internet to start scouting Adorable Gift Baskets for gift basket ideas. When you find a gift basket appropriate for a recipient, purchase it immediately to be sure to get the gift basket you want for the person you're gifting.

How to Write a Christmas Newsletter, The Personal Side of Christmas

Christmas is a Beautiful Time of Year.

For some, it is very religious.  For others, it is filled with magic.  For many, however, Christmas can be filled with tension and anxiety.

The shopping at the Malls can be absolutely exhausting.  Writing Christmas cards to people, we can barely remember often seems like a drudge.  And the Newsletter?  What do I say?

Do you find yourself dreading the Christmas season?  Does the thought of shopping for cards and sending handwritten messages make your hands sweat?  How does one keep things personal without getting writer's cramp?  What do you say to each and every recipient in every single card?  Perhaps now is the time to organize your thoughts and keep in touch through a Christmas Newsletter.

A Christmas Newsletter can be a wonderful experience, and it is a way for others to know what is happening in your life and in the lives of your family.  However, a Christmas Newsletter can also embrace the recipients, as you include your feelings about them.  This can be generalized yet still remain personal.  You don't have to give names or try to fit too much on one page.  Here are some basic rules for writing a newsletter:

  • Be brief.  For a Christmas Newsletter to be welcome, you don't want to bore people with pages and pages.  Stick to one page of information.  If you're going to include pictures, keep the Newsletter to two pages.  If you find yourself going on and on, remember, a good edit is a writer's best friend.
  • Be humble.  "Look what I did!" or "Look how smart my kids are" is bragging, and no one likes a braggart.  Celebrate your life with thanksgiving.   Remember, for every success, there has been someone along the way which has encouraged and inspired you.   You couldn't have done it without them.  Say so.   Some good examples of a thankful message might be:  "I feel blessed to have received a promotion."  Or "thankfully, Johnnie has successfully completed his first semester at college."
  • Include the reader.  Yes, you can do that without mentioning names.  For example, "it is so wonderful to have the family gathered together again.  Wish you were here."  Another inclusive example could be:  "It's great to have our family gathered; however, Christmas is not the same without you."  Nothing warms the heart of your reader, like knowing they are missed.
  • Get in touch with your feelings.  Think about each person who has blessed your life.  If they have not been a blessing, then why do you include them?  Do not stir the pot of discontent.  I'm a firm believer that Newsletters should be sent only to those who mean something to you or perhaps to someone who really needs a friend.
  • Include a brief personal message.  Nothing says "I care about you," quite like something unique.  Write in pen, at the top, "John" or "Dear Sara."  And at the end, include a personal line, such as, "John, I miss you, especially at Christmas," or "Sara, I still have that lovely needlepoint you gave to me.   I miss you more than ever."

Few people enjoy the expensive Christmas card with a typed signature, even if it is printed in gold.  A Christmas Newsletter needs to be an invitation of two hearts to be joined as one.  So give it all you've got, and do some planning.

This is your opportunity to share a blessed celebration of the year.  Don't let time and distance stand in your way.

Giving and Receiving - Both as an Act of Love

Why is it so important to give "gifts"
to those we value and love the most?  Is it to see the happiness that a gift may bring? Or perhaps just letting them know that you care for them.  Whatever the reason may be, one thing is for sure; Giving is also receiving.

When you give something to someone and do it from your heart, you, in turn, automatically receive something back each and every time you give. You may receive appreciation, gratitude, a lifted spirit, or maybe a warm, heartfelt hug, which are all priceless gifts.

Why do we love to give and receive gifts so much?  Because whether we are the gift giver or the receiver, both persons can be filled with many positive, happy feelings.  If you give, from your heart, your gift back is knowing that you helped someone, made someone's day better.  When you get a gift from someone, you feel appreciated, meaningful, and unique to that person.

Giving should not cause a person distress.  True giving is from the heart.  It's something that makes you, the giver, feel good!  Have you ever received a note from someone, simply giving thanks, that meant the world to you?  Have you ever had someone make you something, and it meant more than anything money could ever buy?  The truth is, money cannot buy love.

Giving and receiving are both forms of gratitude and love.  Giving and receiving are vital because they are one way to say "thank you," "I'm thinking of you," "I love you," and don't we all want to be loved and appreciated.  Send a gift basket to someone special today.

Holiday Gift Baskets - The Perfect Choice for Everyone on Your Shopping List

If your holiday gift-giving list is long and getting longer, you are probably already feeling the pressure. Time is getting short, and it can be hard to get everything done in the few weeks you have available.

Make your holiday shopping experience a winning one. Choose the perfect gift basket for everyone on your list. From the clients who keep your small business in the black to your closest friends to the parents who literally gave you life, you want everything you choose to be perfect. But how can you choose the perfect gift for everyone on your list, and how do you know the gifts you choose will be used and appreciated?

When you give holiday gift baskets from Adorable Gift Baskets, you can put those concerns to rest. Whether you choose a gift basket overflowing with gourmet treats or one customized for the reader or movie buff in your life, you know that your choice will be appreciated and that the contents of that gift basket will be used. Here are some of the things that make holiday gift baskets perfect for everyone on your shopping list.

Give Your Business Clients Something to Smile About

Whether you are a serial entrepreneur or a small business owner, you cannot survive without your clients. When the holiday season rolls around, it is time to thank the men and women who have made your business profitable over the last 12 months.

Finding the perfect gift for everyone on your client list is no easy task, but client gift baskets can take the guesswork out of your holiday gift-giving. Your clients will love their holiday gift baskets, and you will love getting your shopping done.

Let the Folks Back Home Know You Are Thinking About Them

Being away from friends and family is always hard, but it is even more difficult when the holidays roll around. If you cannot be at the Thanksgiving table this year, why not send a holiday food basket filled with gourmet goodies?

When you give a gourmet holiday gift basket, you let the folks back home know you are thinking of them. The family members gathered around the table will think of you every time they unwrap a bar of gourmet chocolate or sample a piece of summer sausage.

Treat Your Family Members to Something Special

Finding a special gift for your family members can be a difficult task, hard enough to make you rethink the entire holiday concept. If you are tired of scouring the mall and finding nothing but cookie-cutter gifts, give yourself a break and choose an assortment of delivered Adorable Gift Baskets instead.

You can choose your gift baskets online and have them delivered to your friends and family members around the country and across the globe. No matter where they live, everyone on your holiday gift-giving list will love their beautifully stocked and carefully delivered gift baskets.

Give Your Spouse a Break from Cooking with a Gourmet Gift Basket

Choosing the perfect present for your friends and family members is hard enough, but it is nothing compared to finding the perfect gift for your spouse. Getting this vital decision wrong could land you in the doghouse for weeks while getting it right could earn you something special in return.

When you give a gourmet gift basket overflowing with special food and treats, you can set your worries aside and bask in the glow of a job well done. Instead of spending their time in the kitchen, your spouse can simply choose their favorites from the basket, and you can share in the bounty.

Everyone on your holiday shopping list deserves a wonderful gift basket from clients and friends to family members back home. So do yourself and the people on your gift-giving list a favor this year - skip the long drive to the mall and the eternal search for a parking space and send holiday gift baskets from Adorable Gift Baskets.

7 Practical Ways to Prepare for Christmas Morning

You spend months budgeting, shopping, and planning so that your family can have the perfect Christmas. And when Christmas morning comes, you’re still working to make sure that all your loved ones are happy. Sound familiar?

This Christmas don’t be so busy making everyone else’s holiday special that you miss out on enjoying the fruits of your labor. These tips will help you prepare for an effortless Christmas morning without skimping on traditions.

Shop Christmas Gift Baskets

The Christmas Eve Gifts

Wrap up a set of pajamas for each family member to open on Christmas Eve. Choose bright colors for everyone. Having a present to open early will help soothe some of the anticipations for the younger children. But the real purpose of this gift is that everyone will wake up in bright and well-fitting outfits to be ready for pictures. When it comes time to open presents, you can take photographs without fussing over appearances.

Christmas Stockings

You need a certain amount of sleep to get through the day happily. If the children are going to wake up too early, keep them busy for an extra half hour. Before bedtime, tell them that they will be allowed to open their stockings in their bedrooms when they wake up. Load up the stockings with small gifts to keep them busy and an orange for them to snack on. Gifts ideas are stickers, crayons, coloring books, and small toys.

Have Holiday Containers Ready

Set aside some empty storage totes or laundry baskets. These are excellent for carrying gifts and food if you’re going to another house. They also serve to get toys and games out of the way before pieces are lost.

Christmas Morning Kit

There are a few items that people are always hunting for on Christmas morning. Pack a small kit with wire cutters and scissors for opening packages. Keep a few freezer bags handy for storing small toys and games. Round out the kit with spare batteries, your camera, and anything you may need to take if you leave the house.

Christmas Breakfast Basket

Make Christmas Breakfast An Occasion To Remember

Food is central to Christmas traditions, and a great breakfast ensures that everyone stays in a good mood. But who wants to be running back and forth to the kitchen and miss out on watching the presents getting opened? Prepare most of the breakfast the night before, and Christmas morning will be a breeze. Cinnamon buns are a simple breakfast that will have you looking like a superhero. Use any standard yeasted cinnamon bun recipe with one change. After you shape the buns and put them in the pan they go straight into the fridge to stop them from rising. As soon as you get up on Christmas morning, take the buns out of the fridge and start preheating the oven. The buns will take about an hour to rise and then a half-hour to bake. Meanwhile, you can sit and enjoy opening presents with the family.
Not a baker? No problem. Set out a buffet of muffins, deli meats, cheeses, fruits, and yogurt that you prepared or purchased. Let everyone graze on that throughout the morning.

Organize the Christmas Presents Under the Tree

This is particularly useful if you have a lot of presents to give. Put the presents for people in the house at the front. Put the presents for guests or people you will be visiting behind those presents. Make sure that the children’s presents will all be at the very front of the tree. This will save everyone the trouble of sorting through gifts and searching for labels because one of the children can’t find a present to open.
Use different wrapping paper to color code gifts.

Kids Love Christmas Gift Baskets

Tell children what colors their presents are. This will make it easy for young children to find their gifts and prevent them from accidentally opening someone else’s present. Colored wrapping paper can also keep track of presents you want to have opened in a particular order. For example, if you want the new video game system opened before the video games, wrap the games in a unique color, so you know where they are.

Follow Your Christmas Schedule

You need to follow a schedule so that everyone is fed, dressed, and ready on time. A schedule only works if everyone knows what it is. Casually make sure that everyone is aware of the plan and voice gentle reminders when it’s time to start switching gears. This will help the children transition away from their toys with minimal fuss. Keep the schedule relaxed and allow plenty of time. Don’t commit to so much that you are frantic to get it all done. When you invite guests, have them arrive late enough in the day that you have plenty of time to clean up and get dressed.

Thanksgiving Cornucopia - What Does It Mean? Make Your own Cornucopia!

Most countries have a holiday that is set aside for being grateful.

In America and Canada, we call that day Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a day we reflect on how blessed we are and our friends and family. It's a day we can forget the trials and troubles we go through and look forward to the future with an attitude of gratitude. Being grateful makes you feel renewed in mind, body, and soul. It gives you feelings of hope for the future.

Why a Cornucopia?

Tables across America will have a cornucopia as its centerpiece this Thanksgiving, yet many people don't know its meaning or who started this tradition. Once you understand how any tradition began and its significance, you appreciate it much more. Knowledge is a beautiful thing!

How is it Made?

Today the cornucopia is usually made from bamboo, basket-weaving materials, or ceramic pottery. While this fits into the decorating styles of most modern homes, the original cornucopias were made from a carved and hollowed-out goat's horn.

This decorative piece is smaller at one end of its horn but wide at the top to make it easier to decorate with fruits and vegetables. Sometimes decorative gourds were used as well. This simple centerpiece is also known as the horn of plenty. It began as a representation of how grateful people were to have food on the table and in their stomachs.

The Latin and Greek History of the Cornucopia

The word cornucopia is Latin and means horn of plenty, as previously mentioned. It represents the horn of a goat, even when made out of something other than a horn. Greek legend tells that the horn was presented to the god Zeus as a present, but there is no information on how that legend started.

The English did not hear of the cornucopia until the 16th century. Over the years, there were other legends about a cornucopia that was the source of endless food and drink. The closest thing you have to that today would be an all-you-can-eat buffet!

Thanksgiving is the time of year when everyone reflects on what they are thankful for today. The cornucopia should also be a reminder to give thanks for the bounty available to everyone throughout the entire year.

Make Your own Cornucopia!

The cornucopias commercially available may not reflect the things you are most grateful for, so create one yourself! You can create a cornucopia this Thanksgiving, and it doesn't need to be the traditional shape. It can be anything you want it to be. It's what it represents that matters the most. Make a cornucopia creation that represents things you are grateful for, and share that with family and friends this Thanksgiving season. We are all blessed beyond measure!

If you are buying for someone who loves to pamper themselves, consider sending them a basket of lavish, luxurious spa treats. Alternatively, for the sports-minded person in your life, a basket that contains all the essentials for their favorite hobby may hit the mark.

If someone you know loves to indulge in sweet treats, fresh fruit, or gourmet delights, surprise them with an appetizing gift basket. Our range of delicious delicacies will enable them to try something new or enjoy some tried and trusted favorites.

Gift Baskets are Perfect for Long-Distance Giving:

Even though you may be apart from someone special as they celebrate a birthday or anniversary, you can still bring a smile to their face by organizing for a gift basket to be delivered to their door.

The arrival of a carefully chosen, beautifully presented gift basket will let them know how much you care, even if you cannot be with them to celebrate the occasion in person.

With each gift basket, you can include a personal message tailored for the individual. Send them your love, wish them well or add a few words that convey your affection.

Gift Baskets Make Everyone Feel Special:

Sending a gift basket conveys a message about the esteem in which you hold the recipient. When they receive a gorgeous gift basket, they will know that you care enough to send the best.

By choosing a gift basket that reflects the hobbies or interests of the recipient, you can let them know how much you care about them.

One of the wonderful things about receiving a gift basket is the opportunity to enjoy some luxurious treats that would not otherwise be part of the individual’s day-to-day routine.

Whether the indulgence is some delicious candy, scented bath treats, or a beautiful bouquet of flowers, receiving an extravagant gift basket by mail can make the recipient feel on top of the world.

Gift Baskets for All Ages and Stages:

Gift baskets make the ideal present for any age group. New arrivals can be welcomed into the world with cute teddy bears or comfort blankets.

Many of the baby baskets come in containers that make ideal keepsake boxes for the prized mementos that parents love to cherish.

Kids will love to nibble at sweet treats, create amazing pictures with art supplies or play with lovable toys. You can tailor your kid’s gift basket to the season or the occasion.

From birthdays to Christmas, celebrations to get well wishes, there is a wide selection of gift baskets designed to bring a smile to young faces. More mature recipients may prefer to receive a sophisticated champagne set or an exclusive selection of wines. You may want to congratulate someone you know on landing their first job or wish them well on their retirement.

You may be sending best wishes on a wedding day or celebrating a diamond wedding anniversary. No matter what the milestone, gift baskets are versatile enough to fit the bill.
